award for local digital history project

Did you know that your library is a partner with the Bethlehem Area Public Library in a local digital history project?

The project is called the Bethlehem Digital History Project (BDHP).
It provides online access to primary source material (letters,
journals, business ledgers, paintings, etc.) related to the early
history of Bethlehem (1741-1844). Pretty interesting stuff. The actual
materials are held in local libraries, archives, and historical
societies.

I’m proud to report that the site has received numerous awards since
its beginning in 1999. A week or so ago, the site was named by no less
than the National Endowment for Humanities (NEH) as one of the “best online resources for education in the humanities” and will be featured on EDSITEment. Not too shabby.

If you’d like to know more about our historical community, I invite you
to check out the site. And keep coming back. Plans for the addition of
even more resources are in the works.
